Universal education for girls and boys by 2015 – will we make it?

Hi and welcome to lesson two in the Millennium Development Goals! I didn’t realise this but it’s actually a really good time to be learning and thinking about these goals. Our election (Aus) is coming up and our politicians need to know just how many of us are passionate about justice for all.

So, here we go with target number 2:

Eradication of Poverty – progress has been made but there’s still a long way to go

Hi all

As I blogged the other day, I’m learning about the Millenium Development Goals, where we’re up to in reaching them and what we can do to help.

This Goal, the first on the list, is close to many of our hearts. If you sponsor a child in a developing country or support mission and relief efforts, this is an issue you’re probably concerned about. The issue is poverty. The first goal of the Millenium Development Goals is to eradicate extreme poverty and hunger. Poverty is something the western world has cared about for a long time and one which many people have tried to eradicate. The great thing about the Millenium Development Goals is that many nations have agreed to work together in a strategic plan to see what can be done, instead of working as individuals. Quick Facts About… The Millenium Development Goals

I’m on a mission to educate myself on the issues that are poisoning and destroying humanity. This blog is a major part of that endeavour. As a girl who has spent the best part of 25 years doing everything she possibly could to shield herself from the pain of the world, I’ve got a lot of learning to do.
