#106 – Autumn’s Gentle Reminding

Autumn leaves that shiver on a cold foggy morning,

yellow,

now orange or red,

floating to the ground,

painting the carpet in colours of fire.

Have you ever wondered why autumnal colours are those of fire

when they harken the season where we are more than all others safe from its dangers?

Perhaps it signals an alert,

a warning,

the end of a season,

a life,

a moment,

has come.

Death in it’s smallest form,

the death of a leaf,

in its vibrant,

breath taking final display.

It reminds us that death means not only ‘over’ or ‘decay’ or ‘goodbye’

but when sadness,

sorrow,

hopelessness is drawn back,

it is a new season that awaits.

May it be new,

frightening even,

but it is fresh

and don’t doubt for a minute,

full of new adventures,

new opportunities,

new dreams.

When the leaves of autumn fall,

I will remember that it is not over for good,

just the turning of a page,

a new season,

a new stage.
