Day 22: Created to Become Like Christ

Wordle: Untitled
In what area of my life do I need to ask for the Spirit’s power to be like Christ today?

To be honest, I struggled to find any enthusiasm for today’s chapter but that’s cool because perhaps it holds something you really needed to read so.. I thought I’d just run it through in summary:

God knew what He was doing from the very beginning. He decided from the outset to shape the lives of those who love Him along the same lines as the life of His Son… We see the original and intended shape of our lives there in Him. Romans 8:29

You were created to become like Christ.

We must cooperate with the Holy Spirit’s work. Through-out the bible we see an important truth illustrated over and over: The Holy Spirit releases His power the moment you take a step of faith… God waits for you to act first. Don’t wait to feel powerful of confident. Move ahead in your weakness, doing the right thing in spite of your fears and feelings. This is how you cooperate with the Holy Spirit, and it is how your character develops.

God uses His word, people and circumstances to mold us. All three are indispensable for character development. God’s word provides the truth we need to grow, God’s people provide the support we need to grow and circumstances provide the environment we need to practise Christlikeness.

Becoming like Christ is a long, slow process of growth. Spiritual maturity is neither instant nor automatic… Your spiritual transformation in developing the character of Jesus will take the rest of your life, and even then it won’t be completed here on earth. It will only be finished when you get to heaven or when Jesus returns.

A great chapter with some wonderful wisdom and insights (perhaps just not a particularly enthusiastic blogger today :o)  )
